The Porsche 908/3s returned in 1971 with several improvements, including the distinctive vertical tailfins shared with their 917 brethren.  At the Nürburgring, Porsche clinched their third consecutive International Championship for Makes with a heroic 1-2-3 finish.  Martini Racing car #3, piloted by the Anglo-French pairing of Vic Elford and Gerard Larrousse, stormed to victory after battling with the higher placed Ferraris and Alfa Romeos.
