The Porsche 908/3s returned in 1971 with several improvements, including the distinctive vertical tailfins shared with their 917 brethren.  At the Nürburgring, Porsche clinched their third consecutive International Championship for Makes with a heroic 1-2-3 finish.  Car #2, after qualifying a strong fifth, dropped out early in the race.  Driver Jo Siffert then moved to car #1 and brought it home in second.
