The Porsche 908/3s returned in 1971 with several improvements, including the distinctive vertical tailfins shared with their 917 brethren.  At the Nürburgring, Porsche clinched their third consecutive International Championship for Makes with a heroic 1-2-3 finish.  Car #1, in distinctive updated Gulf livery, took second in the hands of Pedro Rodriguez and Jo Siffert (who moved to car #1 after car #2 retired).
